I have to be fair, I did not get to spend as much time as I would have liked to with WET, a couple of day after WET arrived from Gamefly, Borderlands came out and I have been glued to that game ever since. I did however get to play a couple days worth of WET, at least until I became stuck on a skydiving/free falling level. So here are my thoughts on WET...up until that point.
WET isn’t a bad game it just falls into some bad game traps. Glitchy cameras angles, upsetting targeting controls and casting. First off, up until the wall I ran into in story mode the voice acting wasn’t that bad except for Eliza Dushku. Her delivery of almost everyone of her lines is just completely dry and without any emotional context what-so-ever, it’s like watching an episode of FOX’s Dollhouse (and that is not a good thing). Malcolm McDowell and Alan Cumming lend their voice and do a great job as expected. The cinematics are great, the in game graphics are pretty good, the little “Grindhouse” cutscenes were cool the first I don’t know two times they did it after that it just becomes annoying. What makes it even worse is the fact that you cant even skip over it because I am fairly certain that the “Grindhouse” scenes have replaced the traditional load screen. Yes, it is better than just staring at a blank load screen but come on at least give up the option.
From a story-line stand point, it’s a pretty solid revenge story. Girls helps Son save his Father, then Father has Girl track down now troubled Son, Girls finds and rescues troubled Son, Father kills Son then tries to kill Girl for her troubles, but doesn’t succeed and now Girl wants revenge, and that is where I am in the story. So far I’m very enthralled in the story I just wish I could get past this free falling level it really is beginning to piss me off but I’ll give it another shot. I know the rest of the story and all the plot twists but I won’t ruin it for the people that still want to play it even after reading this review.
Earning the points for upgrading skills and weapons is done through linking attacks and acrobatic moves, it’s pretty cool for awhile then when you start messing up you start to hate it a lot because your raking up almost no points. The guns so far are guns I guess it’s pretty much generic, the sword is pretty cool but, it’s all the same to me (although sliding across the ground and taking out your blade and slicing it through an enemy like butter). The training sessions in Ruby’s Boneyard were kind of helpful for people like me who don’t really play games like Prince of Persia and Max Payne not a big fan of Slow-mo. Up until the free falling level, I don’t really dislike the game. Now for the remainder of this review.
I have yet to be able to beat the free falling level. I tried yet again to best the level in between gaming sessions of Borderlands (which I recommend you go out and get) and Game 2 of the 2009 World Series, and the game just is not going to have it. The level seems easy enough; as your free falling in the sky you look form left to right, up and down and kill enemies as they pass you, sounds easy doesn’t it...it’s not. You are pretty much stationary and your enemies can pass from left to right fall downward and float back up above you, it’s ridiculous. You shoot someone in the head and they should die it’s called a headshot but know you have to unload two and a half clips into the guy to have them die, whereas acouple of shots from them and you have next to no health. This wouldn’t be so frustrating if at some point during the level there was some sort of checkpoint so you didn’t have to keep restarting the board from the beginning of the level. I have played that one level so many times that I almost broke yet another controller from anger while playing a video game. Since I started playing video games I have broken 1 Playstation, 2 Playstations, 4 PS2 controllers, 1 Sega Genesis, 2 Gameboy Colors, 1 Gameboy DS, and 2 Xbox controllers due to what I like to call Acute Level Frustration or ALF. So in order to prevent destruction of property (especially my own) Wet has been resealed and sent back to Gamefly and am now awaiting the arrival of Beatles Rockband, at least until November 10th and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is upon us.
In closing don’t even bother renting this game it’s not worth the gamerscore points and/or trophies, if you really want a Grindhouse experience just go watch Planet Terror or Death Proof.
P.S. Happy Belated Birthday to Me.

Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe
This will probably be one of the easiest reviews I will ever write. Mortal Kombat VS. DC Universe is probably one of the worst games I have ever played and I had high hopes for this game. I wanted to add this game to my collection so badly, I mean come on it’s Motal Kombat and the DC Universe combined... now I glad I signed up for Gamefly and got it that way. Story mode is just horrendous, the controls leave something to be desired, the voice acting is a joke, and the cut scenes are even worse. I honestly didn’t think anything could be worse than Call of Juareze, but I was wrong. Just from playing a couple of hours of this game I wanted out of my house. It is completely understandable how Midway went bankrupt, when they pump out toilet trees like this.
I was actually so mad playing story mode that I had to turn it off and step outside for a minute or I was likely to break something. After my little cool down period I came back in and tried the other game modes. Arcade mode was a joke everything is the same and its boring. Kombo Challenges were nonsensical and unexplained, after about 10 minutes of trying to figure out exactly what they wanted me to do I gave up. Took the game out of the system back into it’s packaging and sent it back to Gamefly. I haven’t had that bad of experience gaming since Call of Duty: World at War.
In closing don’t buy this game, don’t rent this game, don’t waste you precious gaming minutes playing such a crap-tastic game. Go play The Maw instead or the new arcade title Zombie Apocalypse.

Welcome to Pandora
Check the Trailer:
There have only been a few games this year that I have been really excited about. Batman: Arkham Asylum of course Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, but the game that really has me excited is Boarderlands. Think Mad Max meets Fallout 3. I only recently became interested in RPG's upon begin exposed to Fallout 3 and Fable. I could never really get into World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy, really anything turn-based, I hate having to wait I'm not very good with the whole patience thing. But Boarderlands will be far different. The main difference will be the fact that instead of being an RPG with FPS elements Boarderlands is a FPS with RPG elements meaning that when you aim at an enemy and pull the trigger you actually hit the target (providing the reticle is actually on your target) no more do you have to worry if the invisible die roll will be in you favor.
The story of Boarderlands simply put is; Seven colonization ships traveled to the edge of the galaxy to a planet called Pandora in the distant future, in search of riches and a better life. Upon arriving on the planet they discover that all that remains are delapedated alien ruins. Those that were wealthy enough to leave did so, leaving everyone else to fend for themselves. Chaos and disorder follow as does the emergence of alien creatures that up until now were in hibernation, but there is hope. Across the planet are scattered radio transmissions speaking of a vault in the side of a mountain that is supposed too hold amazing alien technology. There are 160 quests, 30 main quests and 130 side quests, 4 player drop in and out gameplay. Boarderlands features a Random Content Generator. This will affect the whole in game experience from the weapons you'll be using to the enemies you fight and the landscape and outer-rim towns you come across on this desolate planet.
There will be four playable characters Brick, Lilith, Roland, and Mordecai and they all have their own backstories that will be discovered during gameplay. Gearbox is also claiming that once the game is booted up there will be no load screens.
In closing, go get this game I have a strong feeling that Boarderlands will be a strong contender for Game of the Year.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine Uncaged Edition review
Okay, so we all know that video games based on movies usually suck.
Examples:
Raiders of the Lost Ark - Atari 2600 (1982)
Star Wars - Nintendo (1987)
Back to the Future - Nintendo
Friday the 13th - Nintendo
Total Recall
Street Fighter: The Movie: The Game - Playstation/ Sega Saturn
Enter the Matrix -
E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial - Atari 2600
But there are some exceptions (the list is below). The X-Men Origins: Wolverine, is definitely one of them. For starters the game doesn’t follow the movie exactly a lot of things changed and some stayed the same. The game is heavy on the backstory, the mission to Africa for Adamantium, multiple secret military installations, friends and foes never mentioned in the movie and special origin story about a over pigmented future X-Men.
Besides all that fun story-line stuff, there is also some pretty solid game mechanics. Hit detection is pretty spot on, when Wolverine lunges at a person it actually connects, no jumps past or through the person and then the action happens it’s all pretty spot on. I do have to note that glitches did happen but only twice. Once while fighting Sabertooth, I had already moved behind him and and the predetermined action that was supposed to happened continued even though I wasn’t in the correct spot (it was funny to see myself get thrown through a window when we were standing back to back. The other time was while fighting Gambit, I’ll try to keep this cryptic for those who either aren’t there yet or haven’t played the game yet. While fighting him in New Orleans stuff that you are on that is about to blow up, blows up because you couldn’t jump off. Another point in the fight, both of you are supposed to fall onto a platform, he jumps up to where the fight continues and you have to climb a ladder but on your way up a piece of scaffolding is blocking your ascent. Needless to say it took a couple of reloads to finish the fight, other then that the game ran pretty smoothly. I am however a little upset that you were only able to do the human shield move once wait no that is a predetermined action.
The Bonus section is pretty limited, it’s just where you go to unlock alternate costumes to wear in game, there’s nothing like running around in classic yellow and blue tights. To unlock the bonus area you must collect Wolverine statues, there are four sets of statues scattered throughout the entire game. Just because you found one classic Wolverine statues in the first level doesn’t mean you’ll find the next classic to complete the set in the same level or even the next. You might find X-factor Wolverine or Legendary Wolverine next.
Hugh Jackman, Liev Schreiber and Will i Am lend their voices to the game as did Phil LaMarr (from MadTV) for Gambit (I didn’t notice a difference maybe thats because Taylor Kitsch is a crap actor).
In summation, X-Men Origins: Wolverine is a must see movie and a must play game. All achievements are fairly easy to get although some my be tricky to find, but all in all it’s a pretty awesome game and as the ending implies I hope to be playing the sequel soon.
Movie-based video games to check out:
Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga - Multi
Lego Indiana Jones - Multi
Kung Fu Panda (seriously it wasn’t bad...just keep in mind that it is a kids game) - Multi
Evil Dead Regeneration (Bruce Campbell is the shit) - Xbox
Super Star Wars
Super Empire Strikes Back
Super Return of the Jedi
Spiderman 2 - PS2
Batman - Nintendo
Aladdin - Super Nintendo
The Punisher - PC
007 Golden Eye - Nintendo 64
P.S. Very excited about the now confirmed Wolverine sequel and Deadpool spinoff Ryan Reynolds is the shit.

COD: World at War Beta
If you liked Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, you’ll love World at War. It’s exactly like 4, except it takes place in 1942. Treyarch took the gameplay engine from COD 4 and thats about it...so far. I mean, hey, if it’s not broken why fix it, right? They did however rework the perks and kill streak perks, but I’ll get into that later.
Now keep in mind that this is only the Online Multiplayer Beta, and not the full game, so I have much higher hopes. They have raised the Prestige mode to level 65 from the previous level fifty five. I believe that this is partially due to the fact that so far it doesn’t appear to be all the difficult to level up in this game. It took me a little under two and a half hours to get to the original beta level cap of eleven. Now they raised it to twenty four. At the time I am writing this I am a level 21 with around four hours in, so providing the people you play against don’t cheat and glitch, it shouldn’t be all the difficult. Again you have your five custom class slots, but COD:WW added five additional custom class slots, one for each time you go into Prestige mode, making the grand total of ten Custom Class slots.
The perk system is back, and pretty much they are all the same only with different names: UAV Jammer=Camouflage, UAV=Radar Plane and so on. Some of the new perks they have added are like Revive and Throw Back. Revive is pretty self explanatory: your comrade is in last stand mode and about to die. You, with this perk in your arsenal, can run over and heal him. Throw Back, on the other hand, to me seems kind of stupid. In COD 4 everyone was able to throw back grenades, but not anymore. Apparently the developers think it is more “realistic” to only be able to throw back a grenade if you have this perk active!?!? Instead of calling in a Helicopter after you reach a seven kill streak like in COD 4, you now get to call in attack dogs. I like this mainly because they stay in the game running around killing enemies until the opposing team kills them. Plus when you kill an enemies dog you get extra points, and I can’t wait to here PETA bitch about virtual dogs. One new endeavor in COD multiplayer is getting to use vehicles on the boards, such as a regular cannon firing tank, flamethrower tank, etc. And, yes, with the vehicles come vehicle perks to make it turn quicker, go faster, reload quicker, etc.
Gameplay, like I said earlier, is just like COD 4, so it’s pretty solid. Also as previously stated, this is only a beta, so the few problem I have noticed with the game should be resolved by the time it ships to stores in November. So far there are really only two problems with the beta: 1) the aiming- when you unload a clip into a person they should die; it’s a blatant disregard of reality when someone gets directly shot sixty times and they keep running up towards you and stab you. I feel like I’m playing Halo when that happens, and thats not a good thing. 2) Now, this is going to take up a lot of space, so I’m just going to start a new sentence. GLITCH SPOTS. For those who don’t know what that is, it is an area or areas that allow a person or a team to have an unfair advantage over everyone else. In the beta I have only come across glitch spots on one board, although I have heard that there was another one on a different board. The glitch I have seen was on the multiplayer level Roundhouse. This glitch allows the player to go underneath the map and kill people without ever showing up on their screen or radar. The dogs you send out cannot kill them; they just keep head butting each other while attacking the ground. It’s blatant cheating.
There is nothing better than wanting to jump online and getting a little multiplayer action going (Yeah i said it) and the second the game starts the other team, or even some of your teammates, run for the glitch spots. Why cheat? It’s only a video game. It’s not real. It’s not life or death, so there is no reason for it. I love when you catch somebody cheating and ask them to stop politely, or at least my version of politeness, which involves a lot of cursing. Their responses are usually one of the following: “Fuck you, I didn’t cheat” - Um, if you didn’t cheat then why is everyone yelling and cursing at you fuckdick?; “Shut up NOOB” - Okay wow, now that word is just as old and just as gay as fo’shizzle my nizzle, so in essence you jut showed everybody how old, gay, and how much of a fucking dork you really are; “It’s only a game why are you getting so angry?” - This one really pissing me off. Video games were created for enjoyment and to have a good time. Now by you cheating, you’re stealing that away from the other players just so that you can prove how good you are, but... you’re cheating so how good can you possibly be?
In summation, we’ve seen this all done before. There is nothing really new story-line wise, except that the Japanese have been thrown in the mix. It’s not a bad game, and you get used to the controls pretty quick. Like I said, if you like COD 4, you will most likely enjoy this game. Don’t go trading in Modern Warfare just yet, though. If you ever get bored with the WW II era, you can always throw in COD 4 for something a little more Modern.
4 out of 5 because the glitches and the crappy guns, and because I’m pretty sure Kiefer Sutherland is doing the rally cries for the U.S. Marines.

Lego Does It Again
Okay, like i said in an early blog I have a lot of this going on right in my life and I’ve been putting off writing reviews, now thats not to say that I haven’t been playing any games fuck that besides sex and drinking, gaming is the next best stress reliever. There is nothing like jumping online and kicking peoples asses in Call of Duty, Rainbow Six Vegas, Halo and to a lesser extend sports games (i hate sports games). So know i’ll let you know about the game that has recently been my stress reliever.
Indiana Jones is by far my favorite movie franchise besides the Batman series (yes I like even the crap-tastic batman forever and Batman and Robin, also included is the Adam West T.V. series and his movie and the Batman serial from way back in the day), so when i heard Lego was making a game like Lego Star Wars and I freaked because the Star Wars game was great, It was fun to play, it was funny, it never took itself serious like George Lucas tried to make Jar Jar Binks. The game from the start was fun and true to the story, and was kept extremely jovial. The best part to me, which on in alot of other review I’ve seen people complain about, the puzzle solving aspect of the stories. Keep in mind Indy is a archeologist, which means he uses what….thats right his mind. Why? because he doesn’t have jedi powers to break through walls, which in my opinion (an thats the only one that matters) it made the game better and gave it more playability. The cut scenes were hilarious and campy and that fits with the Indiana Jones genre. The hidden areas to explore, The Warehouse, Ancient City, Lego City, the hidden characters to find and 18 fun levels gives the game longevity, especially with the achievements to unlock you cannot get them all in one shot and when you go back to play it again to get more of the achievements you don’t mind it as much. I personally have 6 achievements left and I am looking forward to playing it the next chance I get, because once again it is a fun game (unlike carrying boilers down basement stairs.)One thing i would like them to add and that’s online multiplayer games, these games give you the opportunity to customize your own characters and it seems like a waste to only get to use them in story modes and hidden levels. Some competitive game and the like would be pretty awesome, because in this day with the way the gaming community is everything is about furthering the online community. Let’s see if the the Lego Batman game has some cool features. Go get Lego Indiana Jones and everyone go see The Dark Knight in IMAX July 18th, my fiance and I will be there at 4am Friday July 18th (and then a couple of hours later we’re getting married HA.)See everyone tonight Saturday 07/05/08 @ 10pm… where at you may be asking… well the place to be tonight is Rhythm and Brews (1674 Richmond Rd Staten Island, NY 10304)on Staten Island. With DJ Emilio Sparks, No Standards, Avon Junkies, and introducing the New Moon Jellies.Labels: Review

The Mass Effect...Affect.
It’s 11:30 p.m. Tuesday night, and I’m playing Mass Effect. I’ve been sitting in the same seat for 4 hours now!? When it dawn on me maybe I play video games entirely to much. Granted I’m on vacation this week so I can spend my time doing whatever the hell I please, but still I got Mass Effect on Saturday and only played for 2 hours and on Sunday morning I played for another 3. Okay see right there that doesn’t seem like a lot, but I just went to save my game and happened to look at the time played and it says 19 hours. 19 hours that means means within the course of 2 days I managed to log 14 hours of gameplay for 1 game. Here’s the strange part, within those 2 days I also played Rockband, Call of Duty 4, and Call of Juarez(nobody should ever play this game); and picked up Anti-freeze and de-icer for my car and got a new tire for my car. Also it should be noted that this is the first night in over a week that I have been on my Xbox 360 past 10 p.m..
This article came about because, when I bought Mass Effect or rather my girlfriend bought Mass Effect to keep me occupied on my vacation while she was at work, I was flipping through the booklet for the game or the manual for my new wireless headset I know I had seen it only now I CAN NOT FIND IT ANYWHERE, and it said that you shouldn’t play any game for more than 3 hours and that every hour you should take a 15 minute break. And I’m sitting here like WTBF man, anymore time spent playing this game and reality is totally going to start to fucking warp. It’s games like Mass Effect that this warning is for, once you get into the swing of thing you start to zone out, and next thing you know 7 hours of your life just disappeared but you racked up some sweet achievement points though.Although there is no multiplayer, this game can fully engulf your time like CoD4. The story-line is fantastic, the choices you make about your character in the beginning of the game aren’t just for show. Throughout the game at various points your backstory is brought up in friendly and not-so friendly conversation. The classification system is pretty cool, based on your picks in the beginning of the game you are giving certain weapons that you are “trained” for. That’s not to say that you don’t acquire other weapons as you progress and level up, your just not “trained” for their use. Basically your redical takes up the entire screen so you have no idea where your really aiming. Its a pretty badass idea because if you want to get each of the weapon, tech and biotics achievements your going to have to play more than once. Like a lot of games that are played most people don’t want to play the story mode again, that is not the case with Mass Effect. With roughly two dozen main missions, and almost 60 side quests with 3 different way to interact with each character throughout the game (5 counting your special convo skills when you reach the proper levels) it’s hard to get tired of it and want to turn the game off.
Whether your a fan of RPG’s, Sci-Fi or not into those genres at all, the immersive story and seamless gameplay make this a must have for anyone who is a true gamer. At the time of finishing this review/article it’s 2 in the morning I have already finished 3 Rockstar energy drinks, Top Ramen Cup o noodle soup (beef flavor of course) and every part of my body is numb, I’m exhausted and now I’m going to play some CoD4 i have to level myself back up because I caved to the peer pressure from my clan and started prestige mode even though I swore I wouldn’t because it took me to long to get to level 55, what can I say I’m weak willed. (As I finished that last sentence I saved my game I have close to 21 hours logged but seeing as how when I die or mess up I reload, the time played before the load doesn’t count so in essence I have well over 25 hours of game time in Mass Effect.)Labels: Review
